Changes in Indigenous inclusion in Arctic research and the (possible) consequences for Dutch researchers

Activity: Organising and attending an event Organising and contributing to an event Academic

Description

On the 16th of December, from 14-16h, the Arctic Centre of the University of Groningen will organise a seminar on changes in Indigenous engagement in Arctic research and the anticipated consequences for Dutch researchers.
In Arctic research, much attention is being paid to decolonial practices and co-production of knowledge. Ethical guidelines with regards to research carried out on Indigenous lands, waters and ice are being regularly revisited and revised with Indigenous priorities for research in mind. In this seminar, we want to initiate a discussion how Dutch research practices in the Arctic can and should adjust to these changes. We hope this discussion can contribute to forthcoming polar policy documents from the Netherlands Polar Programme and the Dutch government.
