Coding Medieval Worlds 2: Networks and Connections

Activity: Organising and attending an event Attending an event Academic

    Description

Medieval historical and fantasy worlds are often presented as isolated, defined by insularity and hierarchy which, yet, must often be broken to allow games to progress. Meanwhile medievalists often work on historical worlds far more diverse, connected, and networked than popular conceptions suggest.
In this workshop, we will examine how these perspectives align: we invite medievalists and game developers to work on common challenges, share perspectives, and find new ways of tackling historical problems in game development. This year we focus on connectivity: travel, trade, graphs, diplomacy, social networks, character relationships, and more besides!
