Description

The Lure of Open Access: Pacific Perspectives on Ethical Data Regimes

Based on fieldwork in diverse Pacific islands, among indigenous peoples, settlers in remote rural and, at times, utopian settlements, as well as government and university-based scientists operating in these areas, Stephanie Ketterer Hobbis showcases the complexities of open access as well as everyday and exceptional practices used to resist top-down impositions of yet another data regime.

The guest lecture is sponsored by the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI) Committee and DSS (The Data Science and Society Bachelor).
