Description
Hydraulic Fracking in Europe”, guest lecturer, Universidad de Los Andes, Bogotá, Colombia (skype Session for the lecture on Environmental Law and Ethics)I was invited to shared my analysis on the current status of hydraulic fracturing (fracking) for exploring and producing unconventional oil and gas in Europe, during the lecture on Environmental Law and Ethic During this lecture.
Is hydraulic fracturing a new technique in Europe? What are the technological differences between the hydraulic fracturing used in several countries in Europe since the 70’s and the one developed in the USA’s shale gas revolution? Which countries allow this technique? What are the different moratorium and bans adopted by 7 countries in the European Union, and what are their scope?
These questions, the moratorium announced in England on November 2nd 2019, the first report released by the German Expert Commission on fracking, the expiration in 2020 of the ban adopted in the Netherlands and the most recent developments on this topic in Europe were addressed during my presentation.
This is a continuation of my previous work on the regulatory framework for exploring and producing shale gas in the USA published in 2014 by Universidad Externado de Colombia.
