Description

Professor Mathijs Sanders (Rijksuniversiteit Groningen, Netherlands) will explore the cultural transfer between France and the Netherlands: the migration of French writers such as J.-K. Huysmans and Théophile Gautier to the North and the relationship of Dutch writers such as Lodewijk van Deyssel and Frans Erens with France around 1900; cultural relations between the two countries around World War I; Dutch writers’ love for Paris from the 1950s onward, and finally the situation in 2024: which French writers are read in the Netherlands, and what can be said about the interest for Dutch literature in France?
