New Cooperation between the University of Groningen and Macquarie University, Sydney Australia, DD PhDs.

Organized a set of on-line meetings over 4 mornings March 4-7, 2024 between scholars at UG and Macquarie University. The purpose of the meetings was to determine a set of common themes in the research agendas of faculties, schools and institutes between the two universities, to determine possible supervisors for 16 Double-degree PhDs. These meetings were held in the week before President Jouke de Vries would meet with Vice Chancellor Bruce Dowton at MQ. The four meetings were
1)IRIO (led by Porf. Inanna Hamati-Ataya, Research Director IRIO) with political science and security studies at MQ, lead by their Dean and Department Heads
2)Spatial Sciences and Rudolf Agricola School for Sustainable Development, (led by Johan Woltjer and Prof. Frans Sijtsma), and their Department of Planning and the Green Cities consiliency research center.
3)Law School and Wubbo Ockels School for Energy and Climate (led by Prof. Albertjaan Tollenaar and Prof. Lorenzo Squintani.
4)Environmental Law Centre, meeting between Ronald Holzhacker and MQ Prof. Surya Deva, UN Rapporteur for the Right to Development.
