MORTUARY PRACTICES AS A RESOURCE IN SOCIO-CULTURAL COMPETITION THe research group 'Resource Regimes and Discourses of Weakness' of the Goethe University at Frankfurt invited me to speak about mortuary practices in ancient Greece, and discuss how people perceived as weak (in this case, the Greeks under Roman rule), used their tombs and funerary rituals as powerful resources in social and cultural, and sometimes even political, competition.
