    Convened in the run-up to President von der Leyen’s first State of the Union address, this roundtable discussion had a two-fold objective. First, to gain insights on the state of the Union in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic; and second, to solicit concrete ideas on what the EU can do to support equality, fairness and the resilience of Europe’s societies and democracies. Key questions: Where do you see the biggest challenges, risks and also opportunities for our societies and democracies in the months ahead? If you could choose, which two initiatives would you introduce in the upcoming months?
