The Matters of In-Exclusion in Danish Education

Description

This dissertation explores how processes of in-ex-clusion are dynamically
enacted within Danish primary schools through entangled materialdiscursive
practices. Thinking with posthuman theory and Karen Barad’s
agential realism, the concept of in-ex-clusion is introduced to emphasize the
complex, dynamic processes of inclusion and exclusion, demonstrating
how they mutually intra-act and co-constitute the processes of in-exclusion.
The study examines how mundane school materialities, such as
empty chairs and classroom doors, intra-act with institutional routines and
discourses to stabilize the processes of in-ex-clusion and the boundaries
of acceptable otherness in schools’ material-discursive practices.
