For various reasons cooking recipes are a rather neglected text type of scholarly historical research. For some they might not be a glamorous text genre. For some these texts presuppose a great amount of knowledge about their (cultural)historical settings. For some the often elliptic character of the texts might be scary. But if you love cooking recipes, all these hindrances might still not be off-putting enough.
