Title Lifelong Learning Lounge Degree of recognition Regional Media name/outlet Letterenfestival Media type Other Duration/Length/Size 1 day event Country/Territory Netherlands Date 21/09/2024 Description Does your brain get faster the more languages you can speak? And what is the best way to learn a new language anyway? Are multilinguals happier than monolinguals? Can multilingualism help keep your brain young? And how is learning a new language different from learning to play a musical instrument? This is wat Prof Merel Keijzer explores in her research at our faculty. She invites you to learn more about it in the Lifelong Learning Lounge.
Here, we take you through lifelong learning with language, as well as music. Learn the basics of sign language, take a mini-course in Spanish or German, go wild during the djembé workshop and experience for yourself what it does to you to learn something new.
In the Lounge, staff from the Hovo Seniors Academy will be happy to tell you more about lifelong learning and you can volunteer to join DenkTank 60+ (Think Tank 60+). Would you like to record how much you learned? Then have your photo taken in gown and beret and take home your memento for inspiration. After all, you never stop learning!Producer/Author Lifelong Learning Lounge organized by the Bilingualism and Aging Lab (BALAB) URL https://www.rug.nl/let/letterenfestival/ Persons Merel Keijzer, Janine Rook, Jelle Brouwer, Floor van den Berg, Annika Stalman
