National citizen science project for the Weekend of Science 2019

During the Dutch national Weekend of Science 2019 our study on idiom knowledge "Maak dat de kat wijs" was featured as national citizen science project. The project was covered by a number of newspapers and online media, including included several interviews with the Rotterdam-based hiphop band De Likt who had been recruited as "ambassadors" for our project. In order to focus attention on the online study, they created a new idiom ("dat zou de kapsalon nog niet halen") and went on a media tour to promote its use (and eventual registration in the "Dikke van Dale", the Netherlands' leading dictionary. In parallel, people were invited to come up with their own suggestions for new Dutch idioms on The online project was launched officially by minister Ingrid van Engelshoven on October 4th 2019 in The Hague.
