Newspaper item - on Museum installation of pen-based computer at Scryption, Tilburg

Press/Media: Public Engagement ActivitiesPopular

Description

Newspaper item by Andre Horlings on the installation of a live handwriting recognition demo at the Scryption museum in Tilburg. The demo used a color LCD screen and Wacom tablet, with a Windows application supported by a recognition engine on a separate Linux PC. The visitor could enter the name of a Dutch city and obtain an image of its coat of arms (heraldic sign) in return. Because users entered all kinds of nonsense and drawings, extensive preprocessing was needed on the incoming pen-coordinate (XY) stream.
