Research interests

As a member of the Center for Language and Cognition Groningen (CLCG), Van Hout leads the Acquisition Lab there.  Her main research focus is the acquisition of temporal and nominal reference in typically developing monolingual children, specifically, tense and aspect, telicity and culmination, definiteness. Additional acquisition interests include various topics in syntax, semantics, pragmatics and cognition: quantification, subject and object questions, long-distance wh-questions, object and quantificational pronouns, passives, scalar implicatures, theory of mind reasoning.
