Research interests

Dr. David Vállez García is currently a researcher in the Department of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging at the University Medical Center Groningen, the Netherlands. With a bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy from the University of Alcalá, Spain (2002), he obtained his PhD from the University of Groningen, the Netherlands (2015), with the completion of a thesis titled "PET Imaging of Mild Traumatic Brain Injury and Whiplash Associated Disorder". This group of patients often reports long-lasting symptoms, unexplained by conventional imaging techniques that do not detect brain alterations. In this context, positron emission tomography (PET) may contribute to a better understanding of their symptoms, as it provides the opportunity to visualize a variety of brain functions and, therefore could represent an essential tool in understanding these disorders.
