Personal profile

Research interests

My research focuses on advancing psychogeriatric care for older persons at home and in nursing homes. After working as a psychogeriatrician for over a decade, I joined the Department of Primary and Long-Term Care at UMCG in 2014. My current projects include studies on delirium in dementia (detection, prevalence, screening instruments), the effect of soundscapes and relocation, and appropriate prescribing. I also have a strong interest in critical appraisal of drug trials including quantitative methods to assess risk of bias. Throughout my career, I have contributed to evidence-based medicine through teaching, medical textbooks, and national guidelines.
