Research interests

Dr Flávio Eiró is assistant professor at the Faculty of Arts (Minorities & Multilingualism), and Director of studies of the university minor Development Studies. He was trained in sociology and sustainable development studies at the University of Brasília, and holds a PhD in Sociology from the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales, France. Prior to Groningen, Flávio was a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Anthropology and Development Studies at Radboud University, Nijmegen. He has conducted ethnographic research in Northeast Brazil since 2012, and has published widely on issues surrounding politics, anti-poverty policies and climate change adaptation. In the Faculty of Arts and the Minor Development Studies, Flávio teaches and researches issues related to politics of diversity, minorities and race.
