Research interests

My research interests are the theory of organising and communicating in the arts, cultural entrepreneurship in Africa, and cultural democracy.

Current projects

Following my experience with the University of Cape Coast, Ghana I developed a cooperation with universities in Sub Saharan Africa on the topic of cultural entrepreneurship.

In 2020 I instigated the project Proeftuin Nieuw Publiek, a large scale experiment with theatre organisations in the north of the Netherlands investigating strategies for attracting new audiences.

Current research into cultural democracy concerns the question of the sustainability of the effects of cultural participatory projects in local democratic structures.
