Research interests

Main focus of research is the determination of early predictors for long term outcome after TBI, in particular frontal dysfunction and behaviour.  Another area of interest is the detection of cerebral dysfunction with innovative imaging techniques (perfusion-CT, (functional) MRI. Various peer-reviewed journal papers have been published on this subject. She is involved in several research projects with students and MD/PhD candidates in the field of neurotraumatology. Research projects are done in collaboration with the VUMC (BRAIN-protect), Erasmus MC and with the University of Trondheim, Norway. She has co-authored several books on TBI.  Currently she is program leader of a national multi-center follow-study of patients with mild TBI in the Netherlands (UPFRONT-study). As a member of the scientific committee of the IBIA (International Brain Injury Association) she is involved in the planning of the 12th  World Congress on Brain Injury in 2017.
