Research interests

I am interested in the application of (ethno)archaeobotany in the study of human-plant interactions in the past as well as the present. My research includes:

  • the investigation of the formation of the archaeobotanical archive in prehistoric settlements;
  • the reconstruction of prehistoric plant-food economy and culture;
  • the reconstruction of past agricultural practices through the study of impurities (e.g. arable weeds) in crop assemblages;
  • the application of ethnographic observations in reconstructions of past human-plant interactions and vice versa.
