Personal profile

Biosketch

I started my studies in Molecular Biology and Genetics at Istanbul Technical University in Turkey. In my senior year, I became increasingly excited about studying broader patterns observed in nature rather than focusing on molecular mechanisms and decided to continue my studies in evolutionary biology. I applied to the Erasmus Mundus Master Programme in Evolutionary Biology
(MEME), during which I developed a keen interest in theoretical evolutionary biology. This interest shaped my academic path, methodological approaches, and broad research goals: using mathematical and computational methods to tackle evolutionary questions. I completed my PhD in Evolutionary Biology at the University of Zurich in 2021 with Hanna Kokko, followed by an SNSF fellowship at the University of Jyväskylä with Lutz Fromhage. Since 2024, I'm working at the University of Groningen as a tenure-track assistant professor.
