Hersenstichting Fellowship 2014

Preventing relapse is a major challenge in treating MDD. I will study whether preventive cognitive therapy (pCT) in remitted MDD lowers biased attention for emotional information through increasing prefrontal control and thereby lowers the risk for relapse. Next, I explore whether pupil responsivity, a marker of arousal and cognitive effort, can predict pCT-success. This first longitudinal imaging study on pCT in remitted MDD will add to i) understanding neurocognitive mechanisms promoting prolonged recovery and ii) developing treatment selection algorithms based on neurocognitive markers.
