Aperiodic variability in low-mass X-ray binaries

Research output: Contribution to conferenceAbstractAcademic

Abstract

Low-mass X-ray binaries display a wealth of variability on times scales ranging from milliseconds to years. Here I will review the current observational status concerning aperiodic variability on time scales of ˜ 1000 seconds to ˜ 1 millisecond, with emphasis on what we know from the fastest variability seen in these sources, the so-called kilohertz quasi-periodic oscillations.
