Abstract

α-Hemocyanin from the snail Helix pomatia is a large, highly organized multi-subunit protein, which possesses the ability to bind oxygen reversibly. In the electron microscope the protein is seen as a hollow cylinder. Dissociation of hemocyanin proceeds in a stepwise fashion into 1/ 2-s í z e , 1/10-size and 1/20-size molecules. ... Zie: Summary
