    Abstract

Biofilms were not present on bare OptiChem® coatings after 16 h which demonstrates the effectiveness of these coatings against adhesion of bacteria and the subsequent formation of biofilms. When placed in protein richenvironments, the formation of biofilm is strongly delayed (in relation to glass) which make these coatings suitable for short-term applications in these surroundings.
