Abstract

There is ongoing concern that regular use of β2-agonists without additional use of inhaled steroids may contribute to an adverse outcome of asthma, which may in part be due to desensitization of the β2-adrenergic receptor (Chapter7 ). Therefore, there is a need for a better understanding of the various factors that can regulate β-adrenergic receptor function. The studies described in the first part of this thesis were conducted to investigate several aspects of β-adrenergic receptor regulation, with a special focus on the β-adrenergic receptor. ....
