Abstract

This thesis deals with an electron spin resonance study of the N02 radical and the physico-chemical interactions with its environment. To this purpose the magnetic parameters of the radical were first measured in the gas phase and in a non-interacting host matrix. It was observed that even such a matrix by allowing molecular rotation or radical-radical interaction and by being partly crystalline can modify the observed spectra considerably. Theoretical interpretation of these effects proved to be possible. Finally the N02 radical was studied in environments with considerably more interaction. The results could be interpreted on a chargetransfer or electron delocalization model. ... Zie: Summary
