Abstract
Groningen Nobel-laureate Ben Feringa developed a molecular vehicle. Coincidentally Sibrand Strating, the name giver of the Stratingh Institute to which Feringa is affiliated, also developed a small cart in the early nineteenth century. It was the very first electric vehicle. This article gives a short description of Sibrand Stratinghs life and works.
