title = "Development of vegetation and climate in the Eastern Mediterranean basin at the end of thePleistocne and during the Holocene",
abstract = "The history of the vegetation of the Eastern Mediterranean and the Near East is reviewed here on the basis of a selection of pollen diagrams. The value of the palynological evidence is discussed on the basis of origin, lake and marsh sediments on the one hand, and terrestrial accumulations from archaeological excavations on the other. The vegetation history allows conclusions to be drawn on the development of diachrone development of climate during the end of the Last Glacial and the first half of the Holocene. The history of the vegetation of this region is greatly influenced in certain periods by the activity of prehistoric man. Certain aspects of anthropogene intervention are discussed here.",
