Abstract
Two dimensional Raman scattering images of the density field in a supersonic dry air flow around a sharp-edged wedge are presented. The images are used to characterize the flow field in terms of density, Mach number and angle of attack. Density ratios are determined both from geometrical features (shock angles) as well as directly from the Raman intensity distribution, yielding consistent results.
