Abstract

This work describes the pursuit of polymeric materials with high dielectric constant for potential application in organic solar cells. The importance of dielectric constant is described, followed by the overview of the most common fluorination approaches. Synthesis of the short hominal bis(difluoromethyl) fragment is reported. An activating effect of ether group neighboring the target keto group on deoxofluorination reactions was noticed, and further studies of this phenomenon were described. Attempted polymerizations of thiophenes bearing fluorine containing chains were reported along with the possible solutions for the future studies.
