    Abstract

This chapter discusses how the notion of sustainable value creation is currently understood in the business model discourse, and presents ways in which this discourse may develop in the future. The essence of value-creation is ill-understood atbest, let alone what the underlying notion of value entails. The three questions whatvalue is created from which sources, for whom is this value created and how is thisvalue created signify the current search for further clarification. Additionally, clarityis needed regarding the types of values that are involved in sustainability and theirspecific, intrinsic features. In this chapter, we develop a conceptual lens that aims tounify these two clarifications, providing an analytical tool.
