Abstract

We present new high-resolution models of the structure and composition of diffuse stellar haloes surrounding galaxies residing in Milky Way-like dark haloes. We combine the Aquarius suite of high resolution halo simulations with the semi-analytic model GALFORM. Our technique is fast and highly adaptable. It incorporates the full cosmological context and realistic potential evolution required for direct comparison with observations. We are using these models to examine the assembly of the Milky Way's stellar halo, its relationship to the surviving dwarf satellite population, and the kinematics and chemical composition of halo substructure.
