Abstract

The invention relates to the field of genetic engineering and the production of recombinant proteins in microbial host cells. Provided is a method for enhanced expression of a recombinant protein of interest in a microbial host cell, comprising providing a microbial host cell wherein the function of H-NS (histone-like nucleoid structuring protein) or a homolog thereof is impaired; transforming the host cell with an expression vector comprising a nucleotide sequence encoding the recombinant protein; and culturing the transformed host cell in a culture media suitable for the expression of the recombinant protein.
