Abstract

Different models have been proposed from Health Psychology in order to understand and to predict healthy behaviours. Theory of Planed Behavior is a prevailing model in the study of health. Using this theoretical framework, the objective of this descriptive study is to test the impact of behavioral habits on preventive behaviours of cardiovascular disease. To this end, 152 subjects were surveyed in an empirical study. They answered a questionaire measuring preventive behaviours of cardiovascular disease. Data were analysed using the statistical package Lisrel VIII. The results indicated that behavioural habits had a positive and significant influence on current behaviour. This influence was both direct and indirect through all variables of Theory of Planed Behavior. The direct influence that habits have on current behaviour is especially remarkable.
