Abstract
The editors of 'Theoretical discussions of biography' are very sceptical about the scientific merits of the genre of Life Writing. They prefer a rapprochement between Biography, based on written sources, and Ginzburgian microhistory. One of their key arguments is that micro history and biography are more interwoven with notions of agency and context than with problenms of identity and emancipation.
