Abstract
The work described in this thesis is aimed at exploring the properties of known and new transaminases and establishing the possibilities and limitations of their use in biocatalysis. Issues that are examined are enzyme stability, effect of coupled reactions on reaction equilibrium, and structural and catalytic properties of a novel class III transaminase.
