Abstract
In the article the isoglosses in the Burgenland Croatian dialect area and hypothetical isoglosses in the old homeland of the Burgenland Croats are discussed from a dialect geographical point of view. The author has three purposes: (1) to verify existing theories about the provenance of the Burgenland Croats, especially that of Neweklowsky (1978); (2) to establish the chronology of a number of changes in Burgenland Croatian; (3) to shed some light on the dynamics of postmigratory areal diffusion within Burgenland Croatian.
