Abstract
Already in the 1950s the British anthropologist Evans-Pritchard saw anthropology as being closer to history than to the natural sciences. Since the 1970s the rapprochement between history and anthropology became evident, especially in the UK, USA and France. How about the Netherlands? Here the works of especially Norbert Elias, Joop Goudsblom and Anton Blok inspired historical research by sociologists and anthropologists.
