Abstract

This thesis explores a variety of photochemical phenomena related to photoswitching and luminescence. In particular, it was studied the interaction of light with molecules with different responsive units. As a consequence, different events are triggered upon irradiation, and in some cases these events do not rely on a photochemical basis. This is achieved by the confinement of the different elements in the studied systems. Either by covalent confinement of multiple chromophores or by aggregation effects, new behaviors were discovered and characterized.
