Abstract

The opportunities that digital transformation promises for the finance and controlling function are discussed extensively in literature. One aspect that has received a lot of attention is the use of predictive analytics for financial forecasts. In contrast to classic forecasts, advanced data analyses are used for pattern recognition and to create model based forecasts. However, companies report various challenges during implementation, such as problems with data quality and data availability, but also a lack of competences in the company and a lack of trust of employees towards the forecast results. This interview-based study provides a structured overview of the implementation challenges of predictive analytics forecasts and potential solutions to tackle them.
