Abstract

A simple method for preparation of aliphatic mercaptans was studied, consisting in the reaction of alkylbromides with thiourea and decomposition of the alkylisothiourea hydrobromides with sodium hydroxyde: .... Zie: Summary RSC (:NH) . NH2 . HBr+NaOH = RSH+(CN2H2)2+NaBr+H2O. A series of mercaptans was prepared by this method.
