Abstract

Discussion of concerns around data quality/reliability in dates-as-data approaches.
Open radiocarbon datasets often lack contextual data or information on reliability.
Aggregating large amounts of radiocarbon dates will require the acceptance of noise.
Dataset vetting has little impact on the overall pattern and significant deviations from null models.
Exponential and climate modeltests still demonstrate fluctuations in human activity that appear to correlate with climate events.
