Abstract

Final product of the Erasmus+ project Resilient Fortress (September 2024–June 2025). The project directly supported heritage institutions in responding to the challenges of climate change and the growing demand for environmental responsibility, with a specific focus on the sustainable management of fortified heritage. It brought together heritage organizations and specialists from seven European countries (Finland: Suomenlinna; Sweden: Bomarsund; France: Mont-Dauphin, Port Vauban and Fort Carre; the Netherlands: Naarden; Belgium: Efforts; Italy: Forte Tesoro and Forte Aurelia) to co-develop practical, implementable strategies for sustainable preservation. I was invited as an expert by the Dutch partner, Stichting Monumentenbezit, to contribute with my expertise and research on military heritage and Naarden fortifications.
