Abstract

The aim of the Participation Act is to let people stand on their own feet and let them (quickly) flow to (paid) work or, if that is not possible, to participate in another way. In recent years, a number of municipalities have conducted experiments in social assistance. All experiments have in common that the interventions can be described as “more self-management, more customization and less coercion”. We are examining whether this experimental approach is more effective than the current approach.
