Abstract

The feasibility of subjecting peptides to electrochemical reactions was investigated. On-line mass spectrometry was used for the analysis. The on-line combination of an electrochemical flow cell with electrospray mass spectrometry offers quick insight into the scope and limitations of electrochemical reactions of organic molecules. It was shown that specific cleavage at tyrosine occurs and that phosphorylation of tyrosine prevents the cleavage.
