Abstract
Stark measurements on the 25935 cm-1 triplet state of s-triazinc at 4.2°K show that it is electronically degenerate. The magnitude of the Stark splitting parameter α = 0.71 debye (splitting is 2αEeff) is about 30% less than that of singlet 1E” at 30014 cm-1 (with Eeff = 1.5E). From these results and available Zeeman experiments, it is concluded that the triplet state observed is of vibronic 3E” ⊗ e’ origin. Some ideas concerning the electric dipole activity of the 3A1" vibronic substate in this manifold are presented.
