    Abstract

    Permethylyttrocene chlorides Cp*2Y(μ-Cl)2Li · 2OEt2 and Cp*2Y(μ-Cl)2Na · OEt2 have been prepared from YCl3 · 3THF and Cp*Li or Cp*Na. The former can be converted into Cp*2Y(μ-Cl)2Li · TMEDA and Cp*2Y(μ-Cl)2Li · DME. The latter reacts with TMEDA to give Cp*2Y(|gm-Cl)2Na · TMEDA and with THF to give Cp*2YCl · THF. In the reactions of Cp*2YCl · THF with pyridine, acetone, and Al2Cl2Et4 the THF molecule is replaced and the new complexes Cp*2YCl · NC5H5, Cp*2YCL · OCMe2, and Cp*2Y(μ-Cl)2 AlEt2 are formed. At 220°C and 0.03 mmHg Cp*2YCl · THF loses THF and (Cp*2YCl)2 sublimes out
