Abstract

Lifelong learning (LLL) in the Netherlands is under debate in this article. The article shows the state of the art of the Dutch lifelong learning education, and training and development field. In particular the unfulfilled expectations of the field are shown in a polemic manner by discussing the factors on micro, meso and macro level that are of influence on the behaviour of the educational systems. This leads to listing the typical Dutch state of the art issues concerning LLL. To handle this issues the article finishes with two perspectives that may be of help for the near and far future.
