Abstract
In this talk I will describe the purpose of this COSPAR initiative, and
I will summarise the activities that the Panel on Capacity Building
carried out in the last 8 years, the period during which I acted as
chairperson. In particular, I will describe the expansion of the
programme, both through a significant increase of the number of
workshops we organised and the number of fellowships we awarded per
year, and the involvement of new areas within the COSPAR remit.
